And We’re Off
February 13, 2008
OK, so I still haven’t gotten over it. 219 petitions! 2,798 signatures! I’m still amazed, and still so thankful.
In fact, it’s just a bit difficult to refocus. The petition phase is over. We’ve cleared that hurdle. Now we have more hard work to do.
We have to continue building a grass roots network of people who are both socially and fiscally conservative. People who agree that bigger government, higher taxes and greater dependency are inconsistent with basic principles of liberty. People who believe that the law should protect the most innocent and defenseless among us. People who believe that families are the basic building blocks of our society and that our government should therefore be family-friendly in every respect, from protecting the institution of marriage to reducing the tax burden on families. So talk to your friends. Send them to the website. And sign up to host a TableTalks soon!
We also have to face the challenge that no one likes to talk about—fundraising. Some of the candidates in this race can pull out their checkbooks and finance a campaign. Others have been involved in political circles for years and have established networks. We have neither. But this is no time to shrink back. It really is a time for courage. And a time to act. Please consider investing in courage.
God bless you and yours.
